The Importance of The Day of Arafah

19/07/2021

The Day of Arafah is a Holy Islamic day that falls on the 9th day of Dhu al-Hijjah of the lunar Islamic Calendar. It is the holiest day in the Islamic calendar.

The day of Arafah is also significant because this Devine ayah was revealed:

"This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favour upon you and have approved for you Islam as religion." (Surah al Maa'idah 5:3)

Fasting on the Day of Arafah:

Fasting is highly encouraged and recommended for those not performing pilgrimage. Allah SWT forgives the entirety of sins in the current year and the next for those who fast the day of 'Arafah. It is a recommended sunnah of the Prophet for those who are not pilgrims to fast on this day. The Prophet was asked about fasting on the day of Arafah, so he said:

"Fasting on the Day of Arafah expiates the sins of the past year and the coming year." (Hadith Muslim)

The Prophet (pbuh) also said:

"There is no day on which Allah frees people from the Fire more so than on the day of 'Arafah. He comes close to those (people standing on 'Arafah), and then He reveals before His Angels saying, ‘What are these people seeking." (Muslim)

The Prophet ﷺ said:

"Whoever guides someone to goodness will have a reward like the one who did it."

May Allah SWT reward for fasting and fulfilling the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammed ﷺ, May Allah forgive your shortcomings and relieve you of your stresses. May this next and the next bring joy to you and your families and may you have a blessed Eid Insha Allah. Allahumma Ameen.

JazakAllahu Khayr.

Eid Mubarak!
